The walking tour & the slideshow features information about the history and architecture of the old South Village neighborhood along with interesting pictures and stories that help join us with the neighborhood's past.The old neighborhood & the present day historic district are defined & New York City landmark buildings & national landmarks are disussed.

The South Village is a Historic District & a part of Greenwich Village's neighborhood that roughly speaking falls between Christopher Street and St. Luke's Place and is west of Greenwich Avenue and the Avenue of the Americas.

Some Highlights are:
  • The Jefferson Market Courthouse - its history, architecture / the infamous trial at the turn of the last century / Stephen Crane
