This walking tour/slideshow focuses on the history of the poor Irish in the infamous old Five Points neighborhood
with some interesting pictures & stories that may help us understand the neighborhoods' past.

Whether you do the walking tour consultation or do the slideshow you will experience an excursion through
the area where the "Five Points" neighborhood actually existed over a 125 years ago.
An area roughly bounded by Canal St. - Duane St. - Lafayette St. & the Bowery.
Going back to the beginning of 19th century there was a lower middle income, ethnically mixed, artisan apprentice community
called "Paradise Square" that for the most part was made up of wood frame, 1 family (2 story) homes
in the area that became the infamous "Five Points".
We will examine the sites of various locations that existed in the old "Five Points" neighborhood,
and some of the places that were referred to in the movie "Gangs of New York".
